Set all shares from to "YES" on "use cache". he word "cache" comes from the French, cacher, meaning "to hide". So what does this new functionality offer? Dynamix System Temperature. For each share on the pool, go to the Share Settings page and make some adjustments: change from cache-only (or cache-prefer) to cache-yes assign an array disk or disks via Include mask to receive the data. The cache already has its own global "Minimum Free Space" option under the "Cache Settings" header. Unraid Share Cache Settings The cache drive feature of unRAID provides faster data capture. The concept turns up all through information technology in a number of different contexts and physical implementations. Cache Settings Cache Settings This section is present on the Share Settings page when user shares are enabled, and a cache disk is present and formatted. That means your drives will give you a 500GB mirrored cache.
#UNRAID SETUP BRIDGE UPGRADE#
I'd really like to make this work but I've been considering giving up on the 2.5gb upgrade and just swapping back to the ac68u.Select any disk not in the array into that slot. I unplugged the unraid server.Įverything has been working fine in this configuration since unplugging the unraid server but I'm not sure where to go from here. I did this a few times and even rebooted the VM, still the same issue until. Odd but not a big deal, I just reloaded services and. Plugged my PC and unraid server into the ac68u and. It limits me to gigabit again but I wanted to try anyway just to get a sense of what works and what doesn't. I reverted the tunables for the bridge and deleted the bridge, then I took my asus ac68u which has been working flawlessly in AP mode with OPNsense and used that as a switch.
#UNRAID SETUP BRIDGE HOW TO#
I made a post on reddit seeking help and I got the suggestion that something might be wrong with the bridge, so having no idea how to diagnose what could be wrong with the bridge or how to fix it I decided to try setting up OPNsense the proper way with a switch on LAN. Now keep in mind while the unraid web ui and dockers are unreachable the VM still works fine and everything else on my network still had internet, so it doesn't seem to be an issue of my server being unstable and crashing. I even tried setting a static IP in unraid and it still has the same issue. I found that if I unplug and replug the cable for the server it comes online again but does the same thing. This time I renabled the on board 1gb NIC and swapped to it to check again if the 225 could be an issue and I still had problems with unraid and its dockers becoming unreachable, so I reverted back to the 225.
#UNRAID SETUP BRIDGE INSTALL#
So once I had time and thinking I may have messed something up on the install I did a fresh install of OPNsense and reconfigured the bridge and tunables only to have the same issue. Thinking the intel 225 might be an issue and not having time to mess with unraid anymore I reverted everything back to the old setup of using the ac68u but I kept using the 225 to try to rule it out as an issue and after a week of use I hadn't had a single issue.
#UNRAID SETUP BRIDGE UPDATE#
I can get to the web ui and update things, switch pages, all dockers work fine, I can even browse my shares in the windows file browser like normal and transfer at full 2.5gb speed between the server and my PC, but within a few minutes the server will become unreachable. until I tried actually using my unraid server. Everything worked fine but I read that I needed to setup a bridge to get the other ports working how I wanted so I followed the guide in the OPNsense documentation on the website and everything seemed to be working. Unraid is using the intel 225 and I'm passing through the realtek NIC to OPNsense which is running in a VM within unraid.Īfter managing to get OPNsense updated and install the realtek plugin I set the first port as WAN and 2nd as LAN. The first NIC is a single port intel 225v rev03, and the second NIC is a quad port realtek 8125b. I purchased two 2.5gb NICs with the intent of upgrading the connection between my pc, my server, and modem from gigabit to 2.5gb. So I've been trying to figure this out for a couple weeks but as a networking newbie I'm completely lost and feel like I haven't made any progress.
